– 世の中の動きとこれから –

– History –
Asahi Seihan Co., Ltd. was founded in 1927 by Seiji Tsukiyama in Minami-ku, Osaka City. The company gradually developed as an art printing business, placing orders with the creators of the time, known as designers and painters. This area of Osaka, known as the “Uemachi Plateau,” was well ventilated, and many small factories related to printing gathered there. In addition, printing factories had different machines for different sizes and thicknesses of paper, from light-off to rotary printing, and all the processing factories such as cutting, Thomson, foil stamping, surface treatment, bookbinding, etc. were divided and specialized.
As the times changed and the work became more complex, the company gradually shifted to higher quality manufacturing, and in the 1980s, the company eliminated its hardware and transformed itself into a “printing company without a factory. While being supported by many factories with high technology, the company has continued to do trustworthy business with dozens of companies with thorough direction work.
In addition, since that time, Asahi Seiban has been in close contact with outside creators and has established its position as an art printing company. As a result of hiring designers from the early days of the company, half of the members are now in charge of planning and design as the creative department.
Asahi Seiban uses the “Sei” in its name. The company name Asahi Seiban uses “Sei” in its name, which was used at the time of its founding to mean a precise plate (printing). It is often mistaken for the “seisaku” of plate-making, but there are still a surprising number of printing companies in Japan that use this character.

– World trends and the future
The printing industry has been in a recession for more than a decade now due to the advancement of digital technology and the penetration of online printing, and although it is said that the world’s economy is slowly rising, the severe situation continues. In particular, the decline in the unit price of printing has been unabated, and surprisingly, there are many factories where the unit price of work has hardly changed for the past 50 years. On the other hand, as technology advances and many occupations become robotic, the crystallization of experience and technology cultivated through the use of the five senses will surely move people’s hearts, and must never be lost.

We must practice the inheritance of technology, review of value, and revitalization, based on interaction with factories. We also want to value sensitivity and conscience, evolve them, and always aim for new challenges.
